In the middle of the night on January 20, 2017, two busloads of women and their supporters departed from the Pound Ridge Town Park in order to arrive in Washington, DC in time to participate in the Women’s March held on January 21, 2017. On the first day of the new administration, the march aimed to send the bold message to the administration and to the world that women's rights are human rights, and did it ever! Pound Ridgers marched along with more than 500,000 others in the largest single-day demonstration in US history. More than four hundred organizations across the country including the NAACP, League of Women Voters, Greenpeace, and Planned Parenthood among co-sponsored the march. The PRDC organized its "First We Marched, Now We Organize" event to channel the phenomenal energy generated by this historic demonstration.
